Codecov documents report customization such as flags and components. If your checks depend on those features, verify their behavior and configuration before considering a replacement.

Try a side-by-side report before switching
- Keep the existing coverage job and check requirements while evaluating.
- Generate one complete LCOV, Cobertura XML or JaCoCo XML report for the same checkout and test run.
- Install 9to5, add its upload token, and upload that report on the default branch and a representative PR.
- Compare head SHA, baseline, source exclusions and changed-line denominators. Resolve differences rather than comparing percentages alone.
- Switch required checks only after validating the workflow. Historical reports and provider configuration are not automatically imported.
If you rely on shard merging, carry-forward data, special thresholds or monorepo grouping, test those requirements explicitly. Combine reports before uploading where appropriate; do not assume provider-specific settings transfer.
